Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must be NSPE members or NSPE student members and must meet all of the following:
- Identify as female
- Be enrolled in a four-year ABET-accredited engineering degree program
- Be entering or currently enrolled in the junior year of that program
- Be a U.S. citizen
How applications are judged
Submissions will be assessed using the following criteria:
- Academic record (grade point average)
- Internship or co-op experience and participation in other extracurricular or professional activities
- Two recommendations from faculty members
- Honors, scholarships, or awards received beginning with senior year of high school
- A concise (maximum 500-word) essay describing “Engineering Career Goals & Aspirations to Achieve Them”
Required application materials
Your application package must include:
- A completed application form including your NSPE Student Member number
- Your most recent academic transcript
- A resume or summary outlining internship/co-op experience(s) and other relevant activities
- Two faculty recommendations
- A 500-word (maximum) essay on “Engineering Career Goals & Aspirations to Achieve Them”
- A 500-word (maximum) essay on “The Importance of Ethics in the Practice of Engineering”
- A 500-word (maximum) essay on “What does it mean to be an engineer in the 21st century?”
