Charles P Lake Scholarship

Overview
The Charles P. Lake–Rain for Rent Scholarship was created to honor the company’s founder, a pioneer in the irrigation equipment rental field. Each year the program may grant up to 20 awards of $1,500 apiece to eligible college students pursuing careers in agriculture, irrigation technology, pumps, or fluid dynamics. In addition, five scholarships (also $1,500 each) will be reserved specifically to support children of company employees.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Have completed their freshman year at an accredited college or university and be enrolled for the upcoming academic year.
- Maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be studying in a program with a primary emphasis on agriculture or engineering, and be majoring in an accredited School of Agriculture, Engineering, or Construction Management program. (Business majors are accepted only from California State University, Bakersfield.)

Selection process
The Rain for Rent Scholarship Committee will review all submissions and name finalists. Preference may be given to students concentrating in irrigation technology, pumps, trenchless technology, or fluid dynamics. If two or more candidates are otherwise equal in academic record and extracurricular involvement, financial need will be used as the deciding factor.
