Kathy Sackman Member Scholarship

Overview
This scholarship honors Kathy Sackman, RN, who led UNAC/UHCP for 33 years and expanded the organization from a small group around her kitchen table to 20,000 members across Southern California before retiring in 2010. The UNAC/UHCP Kathy Sackman Member Scholarship Program provides continuing education support for UNAC/UHCP members pursuing further education in the healthcare field.
Awards
- Five scholarships, each for $5,000
- Open to UNAC/UHCP members in good standing
Eligibility
- Applicants must be UNAC/UHCP members in good standing.
- Candidates must be enrolled in a degree program or in continuing-education coursework in a healthcare-related field at an accredited college, university, trade, or technical school.
- Enrollment for the fall term is required: classes must take place any time between August 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0 overall. If you are not currently enrolled in a degree program, the GPA from your most recently completed degree program must be at least 3.0.
- If you have previously received a UNAC/UHCP scholarship, you are not eligible to receive another.
Application process and timeline
- Applications will be available beginning February 16, 2025.
- The application period runs from February 27 through May 6, 2025. The online portal will stop accepting submissions at 11:59 p.m. PST on May 6, 2025. No paper applications will be accepted—applications must be submitted through the online system.
- Applicants will be informed of award decisions by email in August 2025.
Disbursement
- Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient’s accredited college or university and are scheduled to be distributed in August/September 2025.
