Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation
Los Angeles County is home to more than 30,000 youths and children in foster care. Every day, many cope with limited access to resources, education, or supportive relationships. The Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation (BMCF) is keeping its promise to help them succeed.
Launched in 2013 as a ministry of LA’s First AME Church, today BMCF is an independent nonprofit serving current and former foster youth. We’re inspired by Biddy Mason, a formerly enslaved woman in LA who won her freedom and devoted her life to uplifting others a legacy we’re honored to continue.
Since 2018, the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation has offered scholarships to help current and former foster youth pursue their academic and professional dreams. While just 3% of foster youth obtain college degrees, those numbers are improving. Thanks to our supportive donors, we’ve helped hundreds of talented, ambitious individuals across LA chart a new course for their futures.
