Introduction
The Zicklin Contracting Restoration Awareness Scholarship invites students to explore and express thoughtful, creative perspectives on water and fire damage restoration and the role of insurance restoration services. This program is more than a contest—it's an opportunity to raise awareness about recovery processes, prevention, and the practical challenges faced by affected homeowners and businesses.
Eligibility
- Available to high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students residing in the United States and Canada.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university for the upcoming academic year.
Topic Options (choose one)
1) The Importance of Water Damage Restoration
- Assess how water damage affects residential and commercial properties.
- Describe the steps involved in restoring water-damaged spaces and why restoration matters for long-term recovery.
- Include real-world examples or detailed case studies.
2) Fire Damage Restoration and Safety Measures
- Outline the process for fire damage restoration.
- Emphasize prevention strategies and safety practices that reduce the risk of fire damage.
- Explain how restoration services contribute to community recovery.
3) Understanding Insurance Restoration Services
- Explain how insurance restoration services support homeowners and businesses after damage occurs.
- Describe the process for filing a water-damage restoration insurance claim.
- Offer practical tips for managing and navigating insurance claims effectively.
Submission Formats and Requirements
- Essay: 800–1,200 words, double-spaced, submitted as a PDF or Microsoft Word document.
- Video: 3–5 minutes in length, uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo; provide the video link in your application.
- Infographic: Single-page design submitted as a PDF or high-resolution image (JPEG or PNG).
Judging Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on:
- Relevance to the selected topic.
- Originality and creative approach.
- Clarity and logical organization of ideas.
- Quality of research and use of examples or case studies.
- Overall presentation and compliance with the submission guidelines.
